[Guide] How To Rescue Your Water Damaged Android Phone

But come to think of it, why should you go the kitchen, toilet or pool with your smartphone? That's too dangerous! May be your using water resistant smartphone. 




I'm just joking, nobody is above mistakes. We actually do a lot of domestic activities and we can mistakingly drop our smartphone in the sink, bowl of water, hot water or pool. You don't have to panic if any of this happens to you. All you have to do is to act very fast. You can actually prevent your Android, iPhone or Windows smartphone from becoming water damaged without spending a dim. Without any further ado, here are simple steps to fix a phone dropped in water.


Simple Steps To Rescue Wet Smartphone


  • Switch off your android android smartphone and proceed by removing any protective casing if your phone has one

  • Remove battery, SIM card(s) and microSD card if you are able to (note that this won't be possible with all phone models).

  • Wipe the phone down with a clean towel or wool. This should be done immediately and quickly after removing your battery.

  • If the water damage is more extensive, you can carefully try shaking out the water from the ports. Make sure any small parts, such as the microSD card, SIM card, or battery, are out of the way before attempting this.

  • The next step is to dry your phone by burial in a bag or bowl full of uncooked rice. Rice is great for absorbing liquid and this is actually a common method for drying smartphones and tablets.

  • Leave your phone in the bag or bowl of uncooked rice for two to three days. Do not be try to switch it on until the allotted days.

  • You can now remove the phone from the rice, insert the battery, SIMs, SD Cards into the phone. Then try switching the phone on.

  • If your phone turned on and it's running as it should, keep a close eye on it for the next few days to see if you notice anything out of the ordinary. Play some music to check the speakers and ensure the touch screen still responding as it should.

  • What If your phone is not working? sure, try charging the phone. If the problem is still unsolved, try changing your battery because it may be damaged. 

  • If your smartphone is still not working, I will advise you to take it to professionals (Don't cause any damage). 


Avoid taking the phone with you when you do dishes at your kitchen, use the bathroom or using the pool.
